gross = (exit − entry) × size × direction
net = gross − funding − fees
Worked example
Long 3 ETH from $3,200 to $3,450 grosses $750. After $18 funding and $12 fees, $720 lands. Held through a high-funding week, the same move could net under $600.

Exchange statements list funding line by line; sum them for the position's life. Persistent longs in bull markets pay steadily.
Why do perps track spot at all?
Funding is the leash: when perps trade rich, longs pay shorts until the gap closes, and vice versa.
